How does 4G broadband internet work?

4G, or 4G LTE (Fourth Generation Long-Term Evolution), is a wireless communication standard that enables high-speed mobile internet access. Although commonly associated with on-the-move connectivity for mobile phones or tablets, many people are unaware that it is a viable alternative to home or office broadband internet access.

While most users can access our 4G service using just our 4G router, some may benefit from an outdoor antenna, especially those in remote locations or properties where 4G signals struggle to penetrate from outside. Watch our video to learn more about a typical 4G installation.

Similar to your mobile phone, our 4G broadband internet solution utilises mobile phone masts to connect to the internet wirelessly which removes the need for a telephone line and providing greater flexibility. Your 4G broadband can theoretically be used anywhere in the UK with reliable 4G coverage.

Please note that we only guarantee service at the installation address declared at the point of sale as we perform checks to ensure that the service is a viable solution based on 4G coverage data.

*If 650GB (O2/Vodafone) or 1TB (Three) of data is consumed in two separate months in any six-month period, the network operator reserves the right to investigate whether the SIM is being used for non-standard purposes.

**The standard 4G setup requires no installation, assuming that you are in an area with good-to-exceptional indoor coverage.

***Our 4G SIM cards are for broadband data use only and must only be used in our 4G routers. Usage of the SIM in a mobile phone will incur additional charges. For comprehensive details, please refer to our terms and conditions.
